| Julie Chenette founded Chenette, Litigation Boutique Inc. after nearly 20 years of practice as a lawyer and then a partner with the Litigation Class Action and Professional Liability Group at McCarthy Tétrault in Montreal.
Ms. Chenette regularly pleads before the civil courts, administrative tribunals, disciplinary boards of professional orders of Quebec as well as long-term cases involving multiple parties and experts. In addition to litigation, Ms. Chenette’s practice includes assisting professionals facing a disciplinary process, and this at every stage of the process. She also advises business executives who require personal legal opinions independent of those of the company, such as cases of dismissal.
Ms. Chenette’s practice also includes matters of defamation and infringement upon freedom of the press. She represented, amongst others, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) and its Vice-President, French Services, in an action in defamation instituted by Quebecor. She also has experience in class action litigation and in administrative law.
She has frequently lectured on professional liability and teaches procedure and civil liability at École du Barreau du Québec.
Ms. Chenette is rated BV® (“excellent”) in the Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review Ratings®. She received her Bachelor of Law degree from the Université de Montréal in 1986. She was called to the Quebec Bar in 1987.
