Geneviève Gagnon partnered with Julie Chenette in June 2008.  She practised for seven years in the Litigation and Professional Liability Group at McCarty Tétrault, where she was named a partner after six years of practice.  She then became legal counsel at the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec where she provided advice on its decision-making by the general management and other departments, in addition to being in charge of litigation and insurance. 

Ms. Gagnon regularly pleads long-term trials before the civil courts and administrative tribunals of Quebec.  Ms. Gagnon’s practice includes professional law, an area in which she represents both the orders as well as the professionals.   She is the prosecutor for Barreau de Montréal, in matters involving illegal practice of the legal profession.  She practices in the area of media law, actions in defamation or for requests for confidentiality orders.  She also represents universities.

Ms. Gagnon has specific experience in matters of access to information and protection of personal information having, amongst others, directed the implementation of the process of access to information at the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec.

Ms. Gagnon completed her Bachelor of Law degree in 1998 at the Université de Montréal.  She was called to the Quebec Bar in 1999.
